Within a week after he openly
‘ranted’ an ultimatum to the Nigerian Government, a notorious criminal behind
most of the kidnaps in the south-south and south-east region of Nigeria, Kelvin
Prosper Oniarah (Ibruvwe) was today arrested by the men of the Nigerian
security force. A combined security team of Nigerian Army and Department
of Security Service, DSS, apprehended
Kelvin, and five of his ‘boys’ in a hotel in

September, 2013, issued a 60 day ultimatum to the Federal Government, from his operational base in
Kokori, Ethiope-East Local Government Area
of Delta State, threatening to wreak havoc on innocent Nigerian citizens.
Kelvin has been on top of the wanted
list of Nigerian security forces as he has been linked with so many high
profile kidnaps in the region including the recent kidnap of the prominent lawyer Mike Ozekhome (SAN) on 24th August,
2013, along Auchi–Benin road, the kidnap and killing (while in captivity) of
Dr. Chudi Nwike a former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, that of a
Judge of the Edo State Judiciary, the kidnap of a top female official of the
Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, as well as carrying out various attacks
on security agents and high profiled armed robbery attacks.
The spokesperson for DSS, Marilyn
Ogar confirmed Kelvin’s arrest in a statement she released today. Ogar stated
